| Informative Notes: | | 1
)It is an offence to carry out works within the public highway, which includes a Public Right of Way, without the permission of the Highway Authority. Any conditions which involve work within the limits of the public highway do not give the applicant permission to carry them out. Unless otherwise agreed in writing all works within the public highway shall be carried out by the County Council or its agents at the applicant's expense. The County Council's Central Area Manager should be contacted at Lodge Lane, Great Blakenham, Ipswich, IP6 OJE. Telephone 01473 830010. |
| 2
)Access to buildings for fire appliances and fire fighters must meet with the requirements specified in Building Regulation 2000 Approved Document B, Volume 2, 2006 Edition Part B5, Sections 16 and 18 in the case of buildings other than dwelling houses. These requirements may be satisfied with other equivalent standards relating to access fore fire fighting, in which case those standards should be quoted in correspondence.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service also requires a minimum carrying capacity for hard standing for pumping appliances of 18 tonnes, not 12.5 tonnes as detailed in the Building Regulations 2000 Approved Document B, 2006 Edition. |
| 3
)Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service recommends consideration of the life safety and financial benefits derived from the provision of a commercial, automatic sprinkler system. A system, installed and maintained in accordance with current standards, can, in the even of the fire:
Actively save lives and prevent injuries.
Reduce property damage.
Minimise the amount of water used to extinguish a fire by restricting the growth of that fire.
Should you need any further advice or information on Notes 2 and 3, please contact ADO Rolfe for matters relating to access, or the Water Officer for matters relating to water supplies. |
| 4
)The site is classified as being within Source Protection Zone II of the Environment Agency's groundwater protection policy. This means that any pollutants entering the groundwater below this site could contaminate the public water drinking supply and be abstracted within 400 days.
Surface water from roads and impermeable vehicle parking areas shall be discharged via trapped gullies. Only clean, uncontaminated surface water should be discharged to any watercourse or surface water sewer. It is an offence to pollute surface or groundwater under the Water Resources Act 1991. For further information the application is advised to contact the Environment Agency on 08708 506506. |
| 5
)You are reminded that the carrying out of building works requires approval under the building Regulations in many cases as well as a grant of planning permission. If you are in doubt as to whether or not the work, the subject of this planning permission, requires such approval, then you are invited to contact the Building Control Group of Babergh District Council at the Council Offices # general telephone number 01473-822801. |
